Wow.

Meditation is more effective than I ever thought it could be.

Need to create the right playlists though.

Trying to do this twice a day now, once when I wake up, and once before I sleep.

The one once I wake up, takes slightly less than 10 minutes. I sit down and stretch, and ask myself these questions:

  1.  What do I want to conquer today?

The one before I sleep, takes about 15 minutes or I just stop when I feel ready. Stretching is a huge important part of it. I ask myself these questions:

  1.  Who am I grateful for, to have in my life today? (I’m sorry I didn’t do this earlier)
  2.  What have I accomplished today, and do I have anything I need to focus on tomorrow?

Today’s morning session was great. Was listening to Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso soundtrack – which gave me lots of feels and things to reflect about. Posting the songs and my thoughts below.

Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso OST – “Friend A” (Piano + Orchestra)

Reminded me of the importance of kindness, about staying true to who you are.

Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso OP – Hikaru Nara (feat. PianoHero)

Reminded me to always be brave in pursuing the things I love, and the importance of being passion. Passion can bring you so far 🙂

Recently both “Magic by Coldplay” and “Adventure of a Lifetime by Coldplay” have been on my playlist. A lot.

And when they play one after another I just get really confused.

Magic is about how everything your lover does no matter what they’ve done (assumably bad things) is magical because no matter anything they’ve done it still feels reassuring to have them by your side because of the chemistry you both have.

Adventure of a Lifetime is about falling in love again.

Downbeat vs Excitement hahaha don’t ask me why because I’m confused too :”)

I’m can’t stand to fly

I’m not that naive

– Superman by Five For Fighting

Somehow resonating with this song for the past two days 🙂 It talks about trying to find the best side of yourself; that no one is indestructible even as I would like to be. And how like superman I do have vulnerabilities but I can’t (or rather I’d rather not) show them.

Today was such an embarrassing day… might’ve messed up my interview ahahahahahahahahaha I need to reflect more about my strengths and weaknesses and how I should describe them to people for future interviews. /:

Skylar Grey – Back From The Dead ft. Big Sean, Travis Barker

Check this song out, it’s the most meaningful song that recently has been released. Not to mention it features Skylar Grey’s awesome voice and a dope piano beat.

It’s about a guy who left (for unknown reasons in the beginning) and the girl in the relationship doesn’t know how to react now that he’s come back to find her.  She thought she’d cope better by telling himself he died but all of that changed as soon as she saw him. But now she’s confused and doesn’t know how and what to feel and so her only solution is to reject him. Then the guy’s verse comes in, says he realised that because he focused too much on making money he neglected her and he’s sorry that they fell in love because he couldn’t give her everything he would have wanted because it all happened too quickly. He leaves (presumably to sort himself out from the emotional stress) then when he realises he can’t live without her, he comes back but he realises he has no right to choose but knows she’ll be heartbroken again if he leaves so asks her to decide if she really wants them to continue treating each other like they were dead.

The word “distraught” cannot describe how my heart has been.

Genius lyrics.

Lyrics here:

[Chorus: Skylar Grey]
I never thought that you and I would ever meet again,
I mourn the loss of you sometimes and pray for peace within,
The word “distraught” cannot describe how my heart has been,
But where do we begin now that you’re back from the dead?
Where do we begin now that you’re back from the dead?
Where do we begin now that you’re back from the dead?

[Verse 1: Skylar Grey]
I held the funeral the day you left,
A black umbrella and a sad song in my head,
Buried your pictures that I loved the most,
‘Cause if you survived me I just didn’t wanna know,
So you can’t just come back now like a demon uninvited,
No you can’t just expect me to open my door to you because,

[Chorus: Skylar Grey]
I never thought that you and I would ever meet again,
I mourn the loss of you sometimes and pray for peace within,
The word “distraught” cannot describe how my heart has been,
But where do we begin now that you’re back from the dead?
Where do we begin now that you’re back from the dead?
Where do we begin now that you’re back from the dead?

[Verse 2: Skylar Grey]
I’m so confused I don’t know what to feel,
Should I throw my arms around you or kill you for real?
‘Cause I worked so hard to put the past to rest,
Now it’s tumbling down on me just like an avalanche,
So you can’t just come back now like a demon uninvited,
No you can’t just expect me to open my door to you because,

[Verse 3: Big Sean]
I know I know I can sit and talk but I can’t make you listen,
You wish that I paid attention, I thought if I paid admissions,
To wherever, go however, it would paint the perfect picture,
You said “no matter how much you fucking make it doesn’t make a difference”,
And I’m so so so sorry that we fell in love, Geronimo, it’s Like One thing leads to another,

Swear we’re fucking we’re dominos but, here we are,
Now I’m trying to find an answer in this Bottle girl,
And I’m I’m driving slow, driving slow, don’t let the piranha’s know

But you gon’ miss me when I’m gone,
Why we gotta wait that long?
Baby do-do-do-do-don’t,
Or should I walk out instead,
Is this live and let die or night of the living dead?

[Chorus: Skylar Grey]
I never thought that you and I would ever meet again,
I mourn the loss of you sometimes and pray for peace within,
The word “distraught” cannot describe how my heart has been,
But where do we begin now that you’re back from the dead?
Where do we begin now that you’re back from the dead?
Where do we begin now that you’re back from the dead?

Okay I’ve been listening to OneRepublic’s album Native for a while now, (maybe three months after it’s release), but I never really paid attention to the lyrics. Then one day I felt like so much of the lyrics made so much sense so I went to analyse each of the songs for lyrics I find meaningful. The more lyrics I’ve noted down, the more meaningful I feel the song to be that’s all there is. Plus a quick interpretation if you please.

  1. Counting Stars
(Lately, I’ve been, I’ve been losing sleep / Dreaming about the things that we could be / … I see this life like a swinging vine / swing my heart across the line / … everything that kills me makes me feel alive)
This song is about OneRepublic’s music career, I like the line “I see this life like a swinging vine / swing my heart across the line” as I think it’s about taking chances, and you only try for things you really love as those are the things that you’d pursue no matter how it hurts you. And that a sense of satisfaction is more worth pursuing than just money.
  2.  If I Lose Myself
(I stared up at the sun / Thought of all of the people, places and things I’ve loved / I stand up just to see / of all of the faces, / you were the one next to me / … if I lose myself tonight / it’ll be by your side)
If you paid close attention to the lyrics, or you follow Ryan Tedder’s interviews on MTV news you’d see why this song is so much deeper than it seems on the surface.

Waking up on an airplane and finding out you’re going down, having that moment of sheer panic, looking out the window, seeing your life pass before you, looking over to your right and seeing the person you love sitting next to you, and realizing ‘It could be worse.'” – Ryan Tedder

  3. Feel Again
(It’s been a long time comin’ since I’ve seen your face / I’ve been everywhere and back tryin’ to replace / … I reached out and tried to love but I feel nothing / Yeah, my heart is numb / … But with you / … A little wiser now / from what you showed me / Yeah, I feel again)
Many ways to interpret this song. Old lover? Someone finally melted your heart after being unable to trust love? Or a partner who passed away / left you made you hurt and not want to love again?
  4. What You Wanted
(I’ll find the places where you hide / I’ll be the dawn on your worst night / … I’ll put your poison in my veins / they say the best love is insane / I’ll light your fire till my last day / … I’ll run out of this town / Oh, my love is true / Tell me, something I wouldn’t do / If that’s what you wanted)
This song has a bit of a morbid touch to it, but it emphasizes what someone would do for someone else seeking love and nothing else.
  5. I Lived
(Hope if everybody runs / you choose to stay / hope that you fall in love / and it hurts so bad / the only way you can know / is give it all you have / … I owned every second that this world could give / I saw so many places / the things that I did / Yeah, worth every broken bone / I swear I lived)
Definitely the most optimistic song in the entire album. Treasure every day, don’t let one bad ones ruin you.
This is going on my list of songs to listen to after a break-up. (This is sidetracking but I’m making random lists of songs that I don’t know where to classify them as, like songs to slow dance to, good indie songs, songs to dance to, etc. )
  6. Light It Up (x)
  7. Can’t Stop
(I guess this is what it’s supposed to feel like / when we don’t talk, no we don’t talk anymore / I guess this is what it’s supposed to sound like / The universe, the universe, the universe is torn / I know I can live without you /  I can live without you half the day, / I know I can live without you / And put life off for another day / But I can’t stop / thinking about … thinking about us / Anymore ohh oh / … And all I’ve got … / is nothing I want / … I can see stars, I can see our lights / and I swear they’re shining here)
This song along with Battle Scars – Guy Sebastian (Feat. Lupe Fiasco) is summarising how I feel now. This summarises the pain after breaking up with someone you really love and still feeling so optimistic about piecing everything back eventually.
  8. Au Revoir
(Today I’m not  myself / And you, you’re someone else / And all these rules don’t fit / And all that starts can quit / … we could take apart this life we’re building / And pack it up inside a box / All that matters is we’re doing it, right now)
Au Revoir means “until I see you again” in French. And this song is about a couple that’s drifting apart, but one of them in the relationship realises he treasures the relationship and they could fix it, but it would take effort from both sides and letting go everything bad they had (the arguments, the screw-ups).
  9. Burning Bridges
(You and I were meant to be / Ain’t no doubt about it / No way to hide that sort of thing / Not waiting for something better / Ain’t nothing better worth imagining / … there’s no filling up your spaces with fictionary places / Imaginary faces they don’t work at all)
This song is about someone who realises how irreplaceable his partner is and how much trouble that spells for him so he tries to run away. But he knows she’s what he wants though he keeps running away, perhaps due to a fear of commitment but now he’s realised she’s all he needs and wants her to make sure he won’t run away anymore.
Or alternatively he’s in love with someone who doesn’t love him back/someone who loves him back but for some reason thinks they can’t be together and wants her to cut off contact with him because that’s for the best.
  10. Something I Need
(You got something I need / In this world full of people, there’s one killing me / And if we only die once, / I wanna die with you / … With broken words I’ve tried to say it / Honey don’t you be afraid / If we got nothing, we got us)
This song is the most morbid of the entire album yet it has one of my favourite lines “Honey don’t you be afraid / if we got nothing, we got us”. People can take away everything we have but they can’t take our bonds between the people we love. This song is about the passion in love. Crazy stuff.
  11. Preacher (x)
  12. Don’t Look Down (x)
  13. Something’s Gotta Give (x) (don’t really understand this song)
  14. Life in Color
(I do my best / to find some kind of glow / I’m givin’ it some heart and soul, now / … this is life in color / today feels like no other / And the darkest grays / The sun bursts, clouds break / … You’ve seen my worst / Yet you see some hope in me / … No wonder what I feel / like I’m missing a heavy load / But no matter what daylight brings to us / We all know / … This is life in color)
Feel and appreciate life to it’s entirety because you won’t get a chance to experience that much of it.  Put your heart into everything and just believe every cloud will have it’s silver lining. (:

I’d rate this album maybe a 7/10, especially recommending the songs “Counting Stars”, “If I lose Myself”, “Feel Again”, “I Lived”, “Can’t Stop”, “Something I Need” and “Life in Color”.

That’s it, hope whoever reads this can appreciate or would check the songs out if you haven’t already. Meanwhile to settle myself emotionally aha /:

P.S: Posting this as on 26/09/13 instead of 28/09/13 because it’s what I would’ve blogged if I had access to a computer then I’ll post again for today later :]
